Former code name for an early IBM hard disk model, sometimes still used to refer to the technology and design of most traditional hard drives.

Sometimes while transferring data from a damaged disk, the damaged disk releases the expected amount of raw data but in a seemingly random order. Such a copy is worthless. The problem is due to a physically damaged disk, which causes errors in the location/addressing information.
